Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replace a dead one I replaces a 20 year old Badger model with a new one because the old one was leaking. I figure 20 years was good enough life. I am sure you could replace some parts on the old one and getting it working again. I decided to just replace it. It only took me 1.25 hours, which for mew was quick. I followed the instruction and it was easy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Replaced "same" one after 5 years; not happy. Replaced same model after 5 years' use. Hope this one lasts longer, but this review is considering the old (replaced) one. I barely use the "garbage disposal" feature. I do not cook at all, I finish all food in my plate. So hardly anything of substance goes into the disposal. On the other hand, I regularly give it a spin to keep things clear; so there is no question of "disuse". Thus, it is unacceptable that this started leaking after 5 years. And apparently there is no way to repair a leak; it has to be replaced. Since Home Depot carries only this brand, this is what I got. Since I don't need heavy-duty 'disposal' capability, I took the same model (as the old one). I don't have high hopes, so I have taken the extended warranty. It requires a plumber/handyman to replace, and that is not cheap. Perhaps someone who is handy can DIY, but I did not want to risk it. On the plus side -- as long as it works, it does its job OK.

Mine did not have a power cord. It was hard wired. You can get the cord however.

My less than year old Badger makes a humming sound when trying to use it. Even after that reset red button was pressed.

Asked by: Maryland
Sounds like something is still binding the unit up. I'd suggest unhooking the unit and removing so you can see the inside of the grinding area clearly.
