Faucet Leaks or Drips
If water is dripping or leaking from your faucet, find out how to resolve the issue.
- Upon initial install, it is normal for the faucet to drip for a brief time.
- Determine how often the dripping occurs. If it is cyclical (happening every few minutes then stopping), this is considered normal and should subside within 20 minutes. This could also happen if the water in your tank is boiling, so try lowering the temperature on your hot water tank by gradually turning the thermostat dial counterclockwise. For HWT300 tanks, use the touchpad to lower the temperature.
- Depending on your faucet and water quality, sometimes mineral deposits build up around the valve in the faucet, causing it to stay open. Spray a cleaner such as a calcium remover down into the handles and jiggle them.
- Check to confirm the faucet valve is not leaking. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting from the tank and place over a bowl or bucket. If any water is dripping out without activating the handle, the valve is leaking and you will need to contact us for further assistance.
- If the unit has been installed or re-installed recently, check to see if there are any kinks or bends in the incoming water supply line to the faucet. If there are, please contact us for further assistance.
- If the tubing from your tank to your faucet was extended, the faucet can drip if the maximum distance between the tank and the faucet exceeds 16 inches. Please adjust the tubing to meet this requirement.
- The PSI may need to be tested, as the water pressure may be below the 15 PSI requirement for a hot water tank. Please contact a plumber to perform the test. Please note that many reverse osmosis (RO) systems may not deliver a constant 15 PSI, therefore bypassing the RO system may be necessary.
