Water or Steam Spitting from Spout
If water or steam is spitting forcefully from the faucet, find out how to correct the issue.
- Spitting/sputtering is normal upon initial start-up of your hot water dispenser.
- If the water temperature in your tank is set too high, it may boil and cause spitting/sputtering from the faucet. To adjust the thermostat, look at the tank using a flashlight, if needed.
Locate the thermostat dial on the front of the tank and turn it 1/2 a notch counterclockwise to decrease the temperature. Depress or twist the dispenser handle for 20 seconds to allow cold water to enter the tank. Allow the water to reheat to the new setting. Continue adjusting the dial in small increments until the temperature is to your liking. - If the temperature adjustment does not resolve the issue, check all of the connections to make sure they are tight and secure.
- Clean the aerator to remove any hard water deposits or debris.
Unplug the dispenser and run the water until it's cool. Unscrew the aerator from the end of the spout and clean it by running water through it in the opposite direction. Replace the aerator onto the spout and plug the dispenser back in.
