Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great garbage disposal This unit is very large. If you have limited under sink space it may get difficult to install. Also, be careful of the plastic cover on the front. It is fragile and will break if pressure is applied to it. Unit is very quiet. I mean quiet. Being on septic, having the septic assist liquid is a very nice feature. I treat the septic on a regular basis but this helps with the pipes too. The locking ring is very easy to use to place the unit in place. I recommend having someone help with lifting into place to get the locking ring on though as it is heavy to handle with one hand. It does an awesome job grinding food down for going through the drain system.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well built product and Customer assistance! I purchased this product from Lowe's and found upon arrival that the box was previously opened and the unit had been installed and returned. I installed anyway as part of a kitchen remodel on a septic system that traditionally cannot take a garbage disposal. The unit is awesome, my wife was going crazy with not having a disposal and the noise level is very acceptable. Not as quiet as some of the other lines/models but well within limits of a household with newborns. Additionally the simplicity of changing out the enzyme containers is well engineered. Its too early to see how it treats the septic system but this is one of the only models made with the septic assist and it functions very well, I have had the unit installed for 6 months now and it works flawlessly, recently inspected septic system and the guy said it looked wonderful! Last insinkerator's customer service was amazing, could not be beat. I told them the unit was not working after Lowes was difficult to deal with and they understood and did a one time send of a brand new unit. I was blown away, they listened to my story and promptly shipped the unit due to the hassle and warranty period. If you are upfront with them on the phone they returned the courtesy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grinds citrus peel in seconds. Our old one took two days....... Grinds food waste fast and is very quiet. Since we are on a septic system, the septic assist feature was a plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and septic safe! So far, so good. Haven't gone through much of the septic juice yet, but I assume it's doing it's job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Far; So Good I purchased this unit primarily because we are on a septic system. The previous Kenmore unit lasted exactly to the warranty date (which was a good warranty - 7 years), then both swivels froze up. The installation of this new unit was fairly straight forward. Though I could have used the same 3-point Kenmore mounting flange, I elected to install the new Insinkerator flange and mount. The unit is extremely quiet as advertised. One recommendation to Insinkerator: Upon closely reading the small print in the install instructions, it states that if you do not use the supplied rubber drain extension, the warranty is void. I almost made this mistake because I fear this will be a weak spot of the install and susceptible to eventually cracking and/or leaking. After reading this, I did use the rubber piece. That caveat should be printed much larger and in bold print. The unit seems to do what it's supposed to do just fine. It is a relatively large diameter unit, so make sure you measure under your sink to be sure you have enough room. This unit has only been installed for a month. The proof of quality will be determined years from now. I am not crazy about the 4 year warranty. Hence the 4 start rating. Hopefully it will last longer than that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Super quiet It is so quiet and grinds food quickly. It was easy to install and we have not had any problems, except with the septic assist. We cannot seem to get that part to work.

Why does the Bio-Charge bottle keep falling out?

Asked by: Donna9093
Make sure the bottle tip has been turned and it will pop up. Then it should click securely to the unit.

Does the product come with an initial bottle of the septic assist liquid?

Just had local Lowes install my new Insinkerator this week and tonight, when the disposal wouldn't work (the pneumatic tube from the sink button had disconnected) I discovered there was no bottle of septic liquid attached. Should the unit have come with one?

friend has a brand new one of this model but didnt use it. Can I use it .. I don't have septic.

I don't have septic. I am on city but I need a new unit, would like to have that USA made Insinkerator .....Can I use this???
Asked by: poodog
Sure you can but you don't need it. This unit has an enzyme tank that injects into the disposal to help septic systems. It is more expensive than a conventional unit.
